Eco Factor: World’s tallest treehouse made from recycled materials.
A landscape architect by profession, Horace Burgess has shown his skills in designing a building made from reclaimed wood and other recycled materials, which rests on an 80-foot-tall white oak tree. Being billed as the tallest treehouse in the world, the Minister’s Treehouse is a 10-story treehouse in Crossville, Tennessee.
The enormous treehouse covers an area of between 8000 to 10,000 square-feet and is built entirely from wood that has either been donated or is salvaged from barns and garages. The designers has spent $12,000 on the building, most of which went into purchasing about 258,000 nails.
The interior features spiral staircases, a sanctuary, a choir loft, a basketball court and a number of rooms, walkways and balconies. The architect has also constructed a belfry tower, which he calls the “only penthouse in Cumberland County.”
