Eco Factor: Anti-desertification device containing seeds to be airdropped on deforested places.
Inspired by the legend that states that after the Second World War, Gale Halvorson, an American pilot, dropped candies in the name of hope for the children of Berlin, industrial designer Hwang Jin Wook has prepared a device that could prevent desertification and excessive deforestation in several areas of our planet. The SeedBomb, as the product has been named, is a bomb-like device that is to be airdropped onto locations where natural vegetation has lapsed due to man-made follies.
The project makes use of seeds and artificial soil, which is housed in a container made from biodegradable plastic. This artificial soil provides the much-needed nourishment to the plants till the time they aren’t big enough to sustain themselves. Once the plants are more than just seedlings, the biodegradable casing melts away and the plants are left on their own. Since each SeedBomb contains multiple seed “warheads,” the system might prove fruitful for areas where conventional planting techniques aren’t feasible.
