Eco Cars: Renault’s Twizy Z.E. concept offers a compact ride
Anupam | Sep 16 2009

Eco Factor: Zero-emission vehicle powered by lithium-ion batteries.

With the rise in the number of cars on the roads, most people are now looking forward to cars that are compact for easier navigation. The Renault Twizy Z.E. is all what people living in congested urban areas were always looking for. The car runs on a 15KW electric motor that gets powered by a set of lithium-ion batteries.

Offering space for two, sitting one behind the other, the vehicle is designed to be compact, with a width of just 1.3m. The low center of gravity and the placement of the batteries below the seats provide excellent stability.

The 20hp electric motor generates enough to propel the car to a top speed of 47mph and the batteries are good for a 60-mile commute. Charging the car takes just over three hours, which is an added advantage in a fast-paced urban setting.
